A Partial List of My Bookshelf
and an occasional comment
I truly get energy from books, both from those I have read and those I have yet to read. I know that each book will open up a new universe for me.
When I visit people in their houses I always check out their bookshelves. Their book choices are a window into who they are.
Please note: I have a couple of ways that this site is linked to Amazon.com -- "search links" and "direct to book" links (which may or may not still exist on Amazon).
If you search Amazon.com using the search link on this page OR if you click on the link next to a book (and buy that book) then Amazon.com pays me a little commission. This, in turn, helps support me doing this work.
Thank you for that.
Alchemy -- Back to Top
"The Collected Works of Carl Jung, Vol 9,1: The Archetypes and the collective unconscious" by Bollingen Series Buy from Amazon.com

Death and Dying -- Back to Top
"Egyptian Book of the Dead" by E A Budge Buy from Amazon.com
"The Tibetan Book of the Dead" by W Y Evans-Wentz Buy from Amazon.com
-- The classic on the subject.
"The Unquiet Dead" by E Fiore Buy from Amazon.com
-- A spooky book about modern spirit possession. Beings that should have gone on to the Light but instead decided to take up residence in someone. And techniques for fixing this.
"On Death and Dying" by E Kubler-Ross Buy from Amazon.com
-- A important, ground breaking work.
"The Celtic Book of the Dead" by C Matthews Buy from Amazon.com
-- Slightly disappointing but then most of the original was destroyed by the invading Christians.
Divination Systems -- Back to Top
"The Secret Games of the Gods" by N Pennick Buy from Amazon.com
"Pictorial Guide to the Tarot" by A E Waite Buy from Amazon.com
-- I always find Waite's writings frustrating. It always feels like he is hiding the true information because he is bound by magic oaths. My response is, "Then why are you bothering to write?" Still his Tarot deck is one of the most well known.
"I Ching" by R Wilhelm Buy from Amazon.com
-- This is the I Ching book to own. There are other good ones out there but this one has C G Jung's stamp of approval.
Dream Work -- Back to Top
"Dream Game" by A Faraday Buy from Amazon.com
-- An older work on this subject. Has good information for the beginner.
"Creative Dreaming" by P Garfield Buy from Amazon.com
-- A slightly dated, very useful book filled with many, many tools for activating dreams and dream work.
"Lucid Dreams in 30 Days" by K Harary and P Weintraub Buy from Amazon.com
"Memories, Dreams and Reflections" by C Jung Buy from Amazon.com
"Lucid Dreaming" by S LaBerge Buy from Amazon.com

"Dreamgates" by R Moss Buy from Amazon.com
"Dreaming True" by R Moss Buy from Amazon.com
-- Innovative work by an Australian Shaman (not an Aborigine) connecting dream work and shamanic work.
Fiction -- Back to Top
"Celestine Prophecy" by J Redfield Buy from Amazon.com
-- Written as though it were fact. But a good intro into this kind of thinking/world view.
"Childhood's End" by A C Clarke Buy from Amazon.com
-- My favorite science fiction book by a visionary writer. Clarke also wrote "2001 A Space Odyssey".
"The Chronicles of Amber" by R. Zelazny
-- A swashbuckling fantasy fiction about a dysfunctional royal family who govern the true and real world, Amber. All other realities are but shadow variations of Amber. These nearly immortal beings travel between the worlds by a process that is very descriptive of what shamanic journeying is like. A fun, adrenaline filled read of intrigue, magic, redemption, and all the other things that make such books a satisfying light read with a shamanic twist.
"The Da Vinci Code" by D Brown Buy from Amazon.com
-- A page turner. A murder mystery centered around secret societies, Mary Magdalene as wife of Christ, their children's children's children, and how that "truth" has been encoded by people like Leonardo Da Vinci. It is fiction but the historical "facts" are from real sources. A great read! See also "Holy Blood, Holy Grail"
"Harry Potter" books by J K Rowling Buy from Amazon.com
-- There are seven books (with rumors of possible future additions?) in her "Harry Potter" series. These books are a wonderful read full of magic and discovery. As of this writing Ms. Rowling is said to be wealthier than the Queen of England -- which she is spending (at least in part) on projects to transform peoples lives.
There really is magic contained in these books as evidenced by the fact that these books are a phenomenal success. There are, after all, many well written books about wizards and dragons, yet hers are breaking all kinds of sales records; children who never bothered with books and reading as "entertainment" are "spell bound" by these books. And fundamentalist types are completely up in arms about them (always a good recommendation, in my book -- I have very little patience with fundamentalist types) because they, mistakenly, associate anything involving magic as being evil.
Enjoy these books, they are great. See the movies too.
"Little Big" by J Crowley Buy from Amazon.com
-- By one of the most brilliant writers today. Will give you an excellent perspective of magical realms.
"The Magus" by J Fowles Buy from Amazon.com
-- A good book for experiencing how peoples "realities" can be shaped and manipulated. There are two versions with different endings!
"The Mists of Avalon" by M Z Bradley Buy from Amazon.com
-- A great book that looks at the King Arthur legend from Morgan Le Fey's point of view.
"The Philosopher's Stone" by C Wilson Buy from Amazon.com
-- An amazing synchronicity related to this book completely blew my mind! Why?
"Satanic Verses" by S Rushdie Buy from Amazon.com
-- I read this book as a protest against fundamentalist religions. Rushdie has a fatwa on him for this book - an Islamic decree that supposedly legitimizes the action in God's eyes. In his case it is a call to assassinate Rushdie for the glory of Allah. He is still in hiding today, as far as I know. I rushed out and bought this book as soon as I learned about the fatwa. It was a good book. As I recall it didn't have much, if anything, to do with Satan. It is an unorthodox story about the Prophet Mohammed and his rise to stardom.
"Snow Crash" by N Stephenson Buy from Amazon.com
-- A wonderful science fiction book about virtual reality, good people trying to save the world from bad people, a sub-set of the Ur text, the fall and return of the universal language, Babylon, plus a bunch of other stuff. One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors.
"The Strange Life of Ivan Osokin" by P D Ouspensky Buy from Amazon.com
-- Ouspensky's philosophy disguised as a novel.
"Traveler" by J Twelve Hawks Buy from Amazon.com
-- Another page turner. Wonderful descriptions of shamanic journeying -- I wish that my journey work was that vivid. Still working on that.
The book is quite spooky in that many of the "Big Brother" technologies mentioned in the book actually exist -- i.e. "Carnivore" a spy program that harvests (all?) internet traffic looking for key words and information and then flagging it for later spying (a link to a web site that talks about Carnivore here); "Total Information Awareness" (here is one web site's opinion) -- Admiral Poindexter's pet project of tracking, via a vast database, what every person is doing, buying, checking out from the library, etc. This was project supposedly shut down...and if you believe that I have this bridge to sell you... (here is one web site's opinion about Admiral Poindexter); "Radio Frequency ID microchips (RFID)", sand grain sized computer chips that are currently in many products that you buy. They make for easy inventory and tracking of products. RFIDs are soon to be in all U.S. passports (encoding any and all information about you that "They" choose like where you have been, etc.) They are also being used in animals, adults (another news story about a tech head and his new chip implant) and children (!) to help find them if they are lost or kidnapped. They could be programmed to act like credit cards, etc. -- wave your microchip implanted hand over the scanner and your purchase is complete. Talk about the "Mark of the Beast".
While America sleeps...
P. s. Some of the above links may expire as they were linked to "current" news items ... or maybe they were "erased"... If a google.com search on any of the topics doesn't turn up a zillion web pages then we are in big trouble.
Interesting times that we are living in.

"Way of Action" by C Humphreys Buy from Amazon.com
"Tertium Organum" by P D Ouspensky Buy from Amazon.com
-- Dense philosophical work by a Russian philosopher exploring the nature of reality. This work was written prior to his becoming a disciple of G.I.Gurdjieff. Many of his later works are deeply (and, in my opinion, destructively) influenced by Gurdjieff. I feel that he was doing better and deeper work when he was exploring reality on his own. That being said, all of his writings are worth reading.
